DIY make-up storage!

When it comes to organisation I tend to either be great or completely awful, for example I am one of those 'last minute' types of people when I comes to things I don't enjoy (and I don't need to expand on what things I leave to last minute, I'm pretty sure there are lots of us 'last minuters' out there!

However I love organising things in my room to make it feel girly, especially my room at university. I'm not one to get home sick but I like to feel comfortable and feel at home wherever I am. When I moved into a shared house at university it was my first chance to experiment with decorating (but without painting etc) with little keep sakes, photo frames, bunting and other bits and pieces to make my room feel homely and a place I want to spend a lot of my time in, and all of you university goers will know you spend a ridiculous amount of time just in your room of your halls or within a shared house, like me.

So I've been home for a while after Christmas and had been browsing online at Muji and other sites or some form of organisation for my make up, that isn't as boring and unglamorous as using Chinese pots. I'm a bit of a hoarder when it comes to boxes from perfume sets and various other gift sets which is where  the idea came to me.. I can make my own, unique, storage from boxes that do have a little meaning behind them and what I mean by that is I find gift sets, especially perfume sets, are such a sweet and quite sentimental gifts to give and receive so by reusing the boxes it gives it more meaning to me. Okay, so you all must be thinking what a wierdo finding a box sentimental, but it just makes it unique to me.

But anyway above shows you the finished organiser with the make up I have with me and for my make up and I'll break down what I used to create this below.

The base for this came from a BOSS Orange perfume gift set which came in this gorgeous silver, slightly mirrored box which I simply stuck together with double sided tape in which to create two large sections.

Within this I used an old cotton bud box for lipsticks/balms, an old iPod Classic box with the lid in one side and the bottom in the other, the lid to my iPhone box and lastly an empty, clean candle glass which I have some of my make up brushes in. To make it all glow together and look like it's meant to be put together I had considered painting all of the boxes one colour but I can't bring myself to cover the gorgeous silver box nor can I find any nice silver paint that isn't too metalic or just flat in colour.

I just thought someone might read this and want to do one themselves or it might give someone else a use for their old boxes, or even old cereal and snack boxes. I just love making bits and pieces and saving money because like most students I'm skint *sad face* haha!

Review - Maybeline Baby Skin Primer

On one of my trawls through superdrug I came across the new 'Maybeline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser'. Obviously what caught my eye first was this cute pastel blue and pink packaging, but also the name 'instant pore eraser'. This interested me because I'm not too keen on primers because I feel that they sit on my skin too heavy and my foundation just slides over my skin because of the overload of product. However, this product doesn't. I also picked this up as I have read and watched reviews on YouTube of this primer which made me go buy this because of the simairities to Benefits 'The Porefessional'.

With this I find that a little goes a long way and a pea sized amount covers my nose area chin areas and slightly onto my cheeks and forehead, usually will what's remaining on my fingers. This 'pore eraser' has said to have 'blur' technology so that it blurs the visibility of pores which I don't agree with but after applying my foundation I notice a dramatic difference to my skin and it looks flawless and 'pore free'.

BUT similarly with primers that aren't aimed at prolonging the wear of your make up, I find my make up doesn't last as long than when I don't use a primer or when I use other primers. I would only wear this for a few hours as after I find the product moves my foundation around my skin and starts to form patches especially around my nose which hugely puts me off using it for long periods of time which is generally how long I wear my make up.

Although I would recommend this primer if you were taking photos or at an event for a couple of hours but any longer than that and I would advise a more long wearing primer that could offer pore minimisation and would prolong your make up.

Overall I like this primer but I do not like it and it's not a daily 'go too' primer, nice try Maybeline but you've not quite done it with this one!

A touch of fur!

I realise I'm a little late on the faux fur 'bandwagon' however I recently purchased a Primark coat from last year and attached to the coat was a faux fur trim. At first I wore the fur and coat together, until I brought my hand to sewing and I attached the trim to my (H&M) leather jacket, that I was brought for my 17th birthday 2 years ago.

I love how this adds so much more to an outfit yet it is such a small element! It's a beautiful camel colour with dark tips which gives it such a lovely two-tone effect. I think everyone should have one, whether it be attacthed to a jacket or as a scarf.

With this new found love I have been hunting for a longer more scarf-like faux fur trim so that I can wear with other coats and jackets and even cardigans for the spring time. So if anyone sees or knows where I can get one, if it's black, camel or even cream/white I would be most appreciative!
Thanks!

In this I am wearing:
Leather jacket - H&M
Faux fur - Primark
Blouse - New Look
Necklace - New Look
Lips - Maybeline Baby Lips (Cherry Me)

My first ever blog..

I'm a beauty lover, though not a 'beauty guru' much to my dismay, however as I'm getting older I'm realizing that this world of beauty bloggers is quite colossal and this really excites me! This excitement and I guess you could call beauty passion is giving me the urge to start up my own blog to contribute to this immense beauty blogging world.

With 'moving out' of my family home into a shared house for university I have started to learn  little more about myself and my pastimes and things i just enjoy doing, one of which is YouTube and after spending many of hours then lead me to blogs and also where my curiosity and desires of my own blog began.

And so with many thanks to the beauty bloggers I am now biting the bullet and creating this blog which brings me to welcome 'sophiecdaniel' (boring, I know but its me).

I am sorry for the 'rambliness' (yes, that is a word i have created) but I'm not really too sure where to start or how, so this introduction to this blog and me felt most appropriate.

So this is me.. Sophie coming to you with posts, of some sort I've not really decided what, when and how I'm going to go about blogging but I will in some way, shape or form.
